Spilled On Your Laptop?

Getting a protective case for your laptop can save you time and money. By keeping your treasured computer in a laptop backpack, you are keeping it away from food and liquid spills. But, even if you are keeping your laptop safe in a protective cover you may still have an accident when it’s out. If you do happen to spill anything on your laptop keyboard here’s what you should do to try to save it.

1. Act quickly. Shut down and unplug your computer and remove the battery.

2. Tip the laptop onto its side, then upside down in order to drain fluid out.

3. Quickly rinse out the keyboard with water and turn the laptop over to drain. Repeat this process several times. Try to use purified water if available.

4. Allow to dry completely. Wait several days to put the battery back in or to plug it in.

Preparing for the Big Presentation

Last Friday, the company vice president sprung a real surprise on me. When he came over to my cubicle, I was fully expecting to be admonished for one reason or another. Much to my shock and delight, he instead asked me to make a financial presentation to the board of directors at their next meeting. The only catch? The meeting was to be held Monday.

With just a single weekend to work on the technical and oratorical aspects of the presentation, I had to bear down. I picked out a nice set of clothes and rehearsed my speech for hours. I also tried to anticipate any questions that might come up at the meeting. Luckily I already had a few laptop backpacks to choose from, allowing me to transport my computer to the meeting in style.
